"The Girl From Ipanema" 50th Anniversary Celebration and Tom Jobim Birthday Dinner

In 1962, Antonio Carlos "Tom" Jobim wrote "The Girl From Impanema," a sultry bossa nova song about a pretty girl from Rio de Janeiro that has since gone on to become one of the most recognized and recorded songs in history. On the 50th anniversary of the song's groundbreaking Grammy win, an ensemble made up of New York's top contemporary musicians will pay homage to the song and Jobim's Brazilian-jazz legacy. Vocalist Julie Eigenber (aka "Julie E.) will be joined by Manhattan Transfer's pianist Yaron Gershovsky, guitar master Andres Laprida, Boris Kozlov and Norberto Goldberg in this one-of-a-kind event that will celebrate the life and sounds of the iconic bossa nova composer.
