About "Messiah ... Refreshed!"

Stirring Sounds of Handel Reinterpreted in "Messiah ... Refreshed" Presented by DCINY

What better way to usher in the holiday season than with the fifth annual presentation of this signature show? One of the best-known and most frequently performed choral works in Western music, George Frideric Handel's "Messiah" has been performed thousands of times since its debut in 1742. Now, Distinguished Concerts International New York Artistic Director Jonathan Griffith returns with "Messiah ... Refreshed!", which uses Thomas Beecham and Eugene Goossens' 1959 re-orchestration of the work for a full symphony orchestra as its base and turns the work on its ear. Featuring a full symphony orchestra and concert singers, this performance at New York City's Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage promises to be a stirring reinterpretation of a powerful piece of classical music.
