"Magdalen": Dazzling One-Woman Show About Oppressed Women

Fresh off a successful and acclaimed run in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe '15, this stunningly crafted one-woman show -- written and performed by Erin Layton -- comes to New York City's Soho Playhouse. "Magdalen" brings to life some of the little known stories of the many fallen women and young girls who, in the mid-20th Century, were sent to wash their sins away by working for nothing in commercial laundries run by Irish-Catholic nuns. Throughout the course of the show, Layton effortlessly switches between multiple characters and time periods in what "The Public Reviews" refers to as "the highest level of performance."
