About KEN Mode, Child Bite, Garrett Jamieson

With 'Success' the band set out to pay tribute to where they've come from: a salute to both their Canadian Prairie roots, and a time when they first started to care about making music; the burgeoning 'grunge' and Touch & Go/Dischord scenes of the late 80s/early 90s, with bands like Nirvana, Big Black, Cop Shoot Cop, The Cows, Circus Lupus, and Drive Like Jehu warping their teenage minds. Lyrically, the band's fascination with comedy spirals around classical western concepts of 'success' – from employment, sex, marriage, religion, socioeconomic standing, and particularly the many perceptions people have of how they, and those around them, happen tofit into the world.
Recorded by the legendary Steve Albini (Nirvana, the Jesus Lizard, etc), 'Success' is the group's most raw, real, and true record to date.

The no-fluff punk sensibility is combined with flourishes faintly reminiscent of acid-teas-era experimentation, and freaky, tweaked-out vocals. Alternating between 8-bit Nintendo sounds and expansively spacy and epic movements, the music of Child Bite will constantly challenge whichever musical genre you choose to describe them. Like a perfectly balanced amphetamine drunk, there is a sense of euphoria, urgency, and baseless paranoia blended with an overall sense of velocity, a hidden logic and inertia that is both satisfying and mildly frightening.

This Winnipegger who once worked at a dirt factory, funeral home and pornography store left the nest (Winnipeg) to set the comedy wheels in motion. Since leaving he has made a name for himself. First, graduating from The Humber School of Comedy with honours. He is one of the founding members of the Award Winning sketch troupe The BOOM (www.boomcomedy.com) in which he worked with dynamo Canadian comedians: Scott Thompson, Dave Merheje, Nikki Payne and Colin Mochrie.

Garrett is also currently part of the Comedy Records family which is Canada's first and only comedy record Label (www.ComedyRecords.ca). Most recently, he helped open up the newest Toronto Stand Up Club (Stand Up @ The LOT www.facebook.com/lotstandup) and was named as Runner Up in Toronto's "NOW Magazine's 2012 Best Stand Up Comic."

Garrett has been featured on the Ron James Show, XM Radio's Laugh Attack, MTV Canada, Comedy Network, Etalk Canada and CBC Radio.
