"Cardinal" Explores Colorful Local Politics

Anna Chlumsky ("Veep") and Adam Pally ("Happy Endings, The Mindy Project") top line this world premiere, making its off-Broadway bow at New York's Tony Kiser Theater. In Greg Pierce's "Cardinal", a woman has a wild idea to turn her struggling Rust Belt town into something a lot more colorful, but her plan has some seeing red and others, like an opportunistic entrepreneur, looking at nothing but green. The dispute soon blooms into a battle royale with the mayor, the defiant matriarch and several residents all fighting for their city's soul. Becky Ann Baker ("Girls"), Alex Hurt, Stephen Park and Eugene Young round out the cast for Second Stage.
