About Anjunadeep At Sea Afterparty | 16 Bit Lolitas/ Dusky/ James Grant/ Jody Wisternoff b2b Yotto/ Lutrell at Output

Progressive House duo from The Netherlands. Since 2007 they have had their own label called Bits And Pieces.
Original spelled 16 Bit Lolita's (Dutch spelling), now spelled as 16 Bit Lolitas.

Dusky are London based musicians Alfie Granger-Howell and Nick Harriman. As comfortable writing elegant orchestral pieces or stirring piano motifs as they are jackin' house and epic techno grooves, Dusky's diverse sounds are united by the duo's singular aim ??? to compose electronic music with depth, soul and originality. Influenced by everything from classical and jazz to avant-garde electronica, the duo's emphasis on musical depth rather than genre restrictions has seen their compositions played by DJs as diverse as Pete Tong, Vincenzo, Zane Lowe, MJ Cole, Dubfire, Sasha and Laurent Garnier. Also existing as progressive/melodic house entity Solarity, they conceived their Dusky moniker as an outlet for their more organic, wide-ranging sounds ??? a deeply musical expansion of their nocturnal inspirations. Always intelligent, effortlessly intricate and often emotive, Dusky's sound glides across genres easily. With their debut single 'Lost In You' (feat. vocalist Janai) offering a soul-drenched summer house anthem, the duo's debut album 'Stick By This' was described as "an intoxicating album full of flashes of brilliance and innovation" by DJMag. With the album touching on ambient, dub, electronica and their organic take on house and techno, Dusky have quickly marked themselves out as producers with a uniquely broad appeal. As dance legend Pete Tong bigs them up on BBC Radio 1 and DJs like T. Williams and DMZ's Loefah hammer their tracks on urban phenomenon Rinse FM, the future is looking bright for Dusky.

James Grant's music career began in 1982 as songwriter and guitarist in Friends Again. When they split in 1985 he formed Love And Money and split in 1994. During this time they released four albums. They reformed in 2011.
He then went solo and has released 5 studio albums and has scored the film The Near Room and collaborated with Karen Matheson on her solo albums.

Jody Wisternoff's influence and contribution to dance music cannot be overstated. Between breaking through to the DMC Hip Hop finals as a fresh faced 13 year old in 1986, and putting the finishing touches to his band's fourth studio album in 2008 a lot has happened. His early 90's act Sub Love were one of the largest draws on the UK Rave festival circuit and his hook up with Bristol dj Nick Warren in 1994 gave us the aforementioned Way Out West. With big singles (The Gift/ Ajare/ Mindcircus/ Killa) and big albums the majors came running and it produced their enormously prolific remix period touching up everyone from the fantastically cool to the fantastically desperate. The production duo also transformed into a 5 piece live act in support of the 2004 "Don't look Now" album and Jody's put out a few solo crackers in the interim with more to come.

So what connects the dots between the Global DJ, the teenage Hip Hop prodigy, the Hardcore rave act, the mega selling progressive house act and the solo nu disco offerings of this year's hit "Starstrings"? Well obviously it's Jody, but more than that it's his quest for the perfect beat and bass line, the need to layer the best string, to squeeze the most perfect note from the technology available, to match the best track for the best moment at the right party. And it's that constant desire for perfection that drives him on and on.
