A theater company most terrible is about to stage a murder most foul … no good can come of this. Actually, these wannabe thespians will be lucky to make it through opening night without some real corpses stacking up, because this is The Play That Goes Wrong. And boy, does it. But what’s a chaotic series of mishaps for them makes for “the funniest play Broadway has ever seen” (Huffington Post) and proof that sometimes a show can be so wrong, it’s right. Broadway’s most award-winningest comedy, The Play That Goes Wrong has racked up more laurels than Caesar, conquering stages from Paris to London to Broadway, and now it’s returning to wreak hilarious havoc on New World Stages. See for yourself why Forbes said, “You’ll never have a better time in a theater!”

If you’re going to unpack Brooklyn’s 400-year history of hauntings and unsolved mysteries, you might as well do it in a vintage trolley car. If that alone doesn’t set the atmosphere for learning about murderers and ghosts, the trolley car’s chandeliers, Gone With the Wind-inspired curtains and tour guide decked out in full Victorian garb certainly will.

It’s a magical blend of coordination, showmanship, humor and interactive storytelling. It’s a comedy show that brings people together in a respectfully dirty, unpredictably ridiculous and oddly touching celebration of sexual freedom and expression. It’s the funniest thing you ever saw that night at that place with those people. It’s in-your-face, in-your-front, in-your-back honesty for the whole world to see. Entering its 11th year as a nationally touring roadshow, Air Sex is the world’s first SPART – a combination of sports and art. Each Air Sex show combines the pageantry and prestige of professional sports with the excitement and creativity of a first-rate talent competition. Think Air Guitar, but instead of pretending to play boring old musical instruments, Air Sex participants have jaw-dropping sexual encounters with an invisible partner (or partners!) using nothing more than the art of pelvic storytelling and pure imagination. Beyond that, it’s a show you’ll have to experience yourself to believe. From city to city, “airsexuals” of all ages, races, body types, and gender identifications are welcome to sign up and become part of the bizarre spectacle. Throughout every show, a panel of judges provides hilarious feedback after each performance, ensuring that even the worst Air Sex routine makes for a solidly entertaining time. Air Sex is coming to The Cutting Room in New York. Will you be a thrilled spectator or a thrilling competitor?

They were just four guys from Jersey, until they sang their very first note. They had a sound nobody had ever heard … and the radio just couldn’t get enough of. But while their harmonies were perfect on stage, off stage it was a very different story — a story that made them an international sensation all over again. Go behind the music and inside the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons in the Tony Award-winning true-life musical phenomenon Jersey Boys. From the streets of New Jersey to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, this is the musical that’s just too good to be true. Featuring top ten hits like “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “Walk Like a Man,” this production is directed by Des McAnuff, with book by Marshall Brickman & Rick Elice, music by Bob Gaudio and lyrics by Bob Crewe.

The first Broadway play written by an African-American woman, A Raisin in the Sun is a masterpiece that The New York Times credits with changing American theater forever. First produced in 1959 and adapted two years later into a now-classic film starring Sidney Poitier, A Raisin in the Sun is as powerful today as it was 50 years ago. Now Harlem Repertory Theatre presents the limited return of this incredible story to their stage — a story that follows the Youngers, an African-American family attempting to move from a crowded two-bedroom apartment into a “white” neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago. But a new house is just one of the Youngers’ many dreams. Three generations each yearn for different versions of a better life — whether it’s a business, or a spouse, or the right to live with long-denied dignity.

On this two-hour tour of the waters around Manhattan, you can see New York City from a unique perspective: the deck of Classic Harbor Line’s beautiful 80-foot schooner Adirondack as it sails New York Harbor. The tour includes some of the city’s most iconic landmarks: the majestic downtown skyline, the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge, Ellis Island and more. A few rounds of champagne, wine, beer and soda are provided as part of the ticket price, and you’re welcome to bring a picnic lunch on board. The friendly and helpful crew will shut off the engines and set the sails for as much of the trip as possible.
Come to New York City’s legendary Cafe Wha? for this Musical Salute to the Soulful Ladies of the ’90s: Mary J. Blige and Janet Jackson & Toni Braxton featuring Emilie Surtees. For a singer with such powerful pipes, it’s something of a shock to hear vocalist Emilie Surtees describe herself as primarily a “listener.” Then again, maybe it’s her extraordinary capacity to listen that gives her performances their amazing accuracy. Surtees not only replicates hit songs, power note for power note, but communicates the soul of each singer who originally recorded them — something that requires not only incredible vocals but also a profound appreciation of music. Be moved and amazed by a tribute artist every bit as talented as the singers she honors.

Boasting sizzling songs, seductive dance numbers and a show biz story that packs a powerful punch, Chicago tells the tale of accused murderers Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly, who’ll stop at nothing to get the attention of the press and celebrity attorney Billy Flynn. During the showy decadence of the 1920s, their malicious crimes turn them into media darlings, producing a barrage of sensational headlines, the likes of which could just as easily be ripped from today’s tabloids. A smash on Broadway (winning six Tony Awards) and on the big screen (winning six Academy Awards), this biting satire features the unforgettable songs of Kander and Ebb, including “All That Jazz,” “Cell Block Tango” and many more hits. Enjoy this musical trip back to a time when a little razzle-dazzle made everything just fine in this dazzling production at the Ambassador Theatre in the heart of Broadway.
Named after its first regular headliner, Charlie “Yardbird” Parker, Birdland first feathered its nest on Broadway in 1949, and has since become synonymous with New York jazz. Count Basie and his band made the club their home, as did Coltrane, Monk, Dizzy, Miles and more. Now on West 44th in Midtown Manhattan, Birdland’s still going strong, and is called “close to perfection for serious fans and musicians” by The New York Times, with its awesome sight lines, pristine acoustics and an award-winning Cajun-American menu. You’ll find the most famous names in jazz on its stage, as well as exciting up-and-comers every night of the week.

One of life’s constants for Sheila E. comes down to a simple phrase: follow the beat. And her impeccable inner rhythm is the pulse behind a trailblazing career that still knows no bounds. World-class drummer and percussionist whose credits read like chapters in a music history book: Ringo Starr, Marvin Gaye, Prince, Beyoncé, Herbie Hancock, Diana Ross, Lionel Richie, Gloria Estefan and George Duke. Grammy Award-nominated singer/songwriter behind the seminal hits “The Glamorous Life” and “A Love Bizarre,” Sheila is a fearless multi-instrumentalist, as well as an actress, mentor, and philanthropist. Family, faith and music were guiding forces for Sheila E. growing up in the Bay Area. In addition to percussionist dad Pete, the Oakland native counts former Santana member/Azteca founder Coke Escovedo, solo rcording artist Alejandro Escovedo, The Dragons front man Mario Escovedo and from The Zeroes Javier Escovedo as uncles. Fellow Latin star Tito Puente was her godfather. In addition to being weaned on Latin jazz and Motown, Sheila E. was exposed to a diverse array of Bay Area acts and artists. Those influences ranged from the rock of Jefferson Airplane and the Grateful Dead to the R&B/pop of the Pointer Sisters and the funk of Tower of Power and Sly & the Family Stone. “I used to sit on the corner outside of the local community center with Twinkies and 7-Up listening to Tower of Power, Sly and Larry Graham rehearse,” recalls Sheila E. “The sounds of the Bay Area molded me.”

Funny Women of a Certain Age is a comedy show straight from the unfettered mouths and uninhibited minds of the funniest, most daring, most experienced people in comedy: the women that have seen it all. They’ve raised children both on and off the road with big hairy club bouncers cradling their babies while onstage. These women have stayed in comedy condos where you don’t want to use a blacklight on anything. They’ve been told women aren’t funny and asked to trade sexual favors for work. Trust us, they have A LOT to say, and they say it hysterically. Women of a Certain Age Comedy — created and produced by veteran comedian Carole Montgomery. A comedy show for the ages. Female comics who tell it like it is cause they just don’t give a crap anymore.

Pianist, composer, educator Pete Malinverni has been a fixture on the New York City Jazz scene since moving there in the early 1980s from his hometown of Niagara Falls, NY, where he’d begun classical piano studies at the age of 6. Since moving to NYC, Pete has recorded 14 times as a leader, including in solo piano, trio, quartet, quintet, big band and choral contexts. Throughout his time in NYC, Pete has established performing, recording and inspirational contact with a host of masters on the scene there, including Joe Lovano, Dennis Irwin, Jon Faddis, Karrin Allyson, Steve Wilson and many others. Billy Kelly’s This Is A Family Show! is a stand-up comedy experience parents and kids can enjoy together. It’s comedy toast with the crust cut off; if the crust was all that pesky talk about dating, politics, the DMV, money, and the Department of Motor Vehicles so common in today’s stand-up. The toast part? That is all nutritious jokes about nocturnal animals, microwaves, Ben Franklin and people throwing turtles. You’ll laugh, your kids will laugh, and the turtles are imaginary so don’t worry about them. Everybody wins! Finally a comedy show where adults and kids can sit side by side laughing together and nobody has to cover anybody else’s ears! “An endearingly oddball sense of humor." (NPR)

It stunned audiences with a sold-out run at New York Theatre Workshop. Now, Slave Play is coming to Broadway. Harris, “one of the most promising playwrights of his generation” (Vogue), this “dazzling mix of satire and psychodrama” (The New York Times) is directed by two-time NAACP and OBIE Award winner Robert O’Hara.
